Last night, at the San Diego Repertory Theater, I had the almost disturbingly pleasurable pleasure of watching a reader’s theater presentation of my mini, two-person one-act play, Mankind: The Preview.
Afterwards, the enthralled audience (I think they were enthralled; the tears in my eyes were keeping things fuzzy) asked me questions that would have left Bluto feeling like a literary genius. How did I come to write something so great? Do I have a degree in theology? What other plays have I had produced? Was that me in the back who kept clapping and laughing like a hyena?
It was all quite gratifying. I am now developing that one-act into a full-fledged, three-act play.
I believe that I have been seriously chomped on by the theater bug. What big teeth it has!

Now when you say, “play my instrument so much,” you’re … not being metaphorical or anything, right?

Congrats my friend. That is so cool. Between your metaphorical comment above and the “humping” lines in Mankind… I’m not sure if my “church” would ever do your play but hey, I’m gonna keep stumpin’ it. Metaphorically Speaking.

Ha! Yeah, the “hump” bit is a little … tricky. All depends how it’s delivered, of course. But I probably should offer up a CLEANER version of the play …. I think I will!

Heh heh…I also liked the “lardass” in “Penguins…” I think maybe God himself invented the term.

I just got an mail from a woman saying, “I was wondering if I might get an autographed copy of Penguins from you to give our Godson, 16 1/2, for his baptism anniversary.”
Um. I wonder if I should do the “Lardass” alert. (Wait … I don’t remember the word “lardass” in Penguins!! Wait. I kinda do. No, I don’t. Are you sure you don’t have my book confused with some other …. well, no, that’s not likey, either, I guess…. Hmmm. You think you’d REMEMBER if you used a great word like “lardass” in something you wrote…

Congratulations on seeing your Play Staged. It must be a wonderful feeling, one I hope to experience as well, one day(not to be envious, of course).
Cheers
Thomas
