Ark, ark. I’m kidding, of course. It doesn’t have to be cash. A check or money order would be fine.

I’m sitting in my office now, with 30 cases of books stacked behind me. Our house looks like a tornado went through it. But it’s like we’ve barely started packing. I can’t even imagine where I’m supposed to start next. It’s 6 a.m., and I already feel like I’m ready for a nap.

It’s kind of fun, though. It’s weird, that we have so much stuff. We’ve never really had a lot of stuff before, but we’ve been BUYING stuff for two years now, since I came into money, and so … now here we are, having to DEAL with all that great stuff that for so long now has been sitting on this shelf, or jammed into that closet.

You’ve moved 20 times as an adult? That’s almost exactly our number: this’ll be our 19th move, I think. And, hopefull, our last for awhile: from here, we’re hoping to wait until the market hits bottom, and buy our first Actual Home ever. At 50.

It’s so … sad, really. But whaddaya gonna do?

Hey John, long time reader…first time commenter…I have moved probably 20 times in my adult life…so I identify with the drudgery involved…however, there is only one thing worse than moving….and that is helping somebody else move…:) So sorry that I am in Virgina and unable to help;)

Lord God, keep John and his wife Cat safe from physical harm as they move. Help them make this transition smoothly. Keep them at perfect peace with you and each other and bring about times of laughter and joy as they pack and move. Help them to rest sufficiently once the work is done and help them to adjust to their new home and neighborhood with ease. Lord, use them where you are placing them. For we know You always have a higher purpose when transitions occur. Thank you Lord, in Your name, amen.

Moving is scary… you should just sell the palce with everything else and buy new stuff. or… pay people to move for you. *nodds* thats what I will do…. no more of this moving stuff. did it twice, wonts do it again…. no. just no.

Oh man, I do NOT envy you! I'd go through 6 root canals and a televised colonoscopy over packing and moving any day. Okay, fine. That was an exaggeration. 5 root canals.

Enjoy and remember old man, lift from the legs. Use the core not the spine.

John, are your books ‘dog-eared’?…..you know, like when you turn the corner of the page down so you know where you left off and where to begin again? Have you read every page of every book?Most intellectuals have ‘dog-eared’ books …only thing is, they start another book before going back to the last dog-eared one.

Oh, well, what the heck…dog-ears or no dog-ears…. enjoy your move….a change is as good as a rest, they say……know how exasperating it is….clearing out the clutter…..been there, done that…parsonage to manse to vicarage!

I feel your pain, really. I know about packing and moving, being a Marine Corps brat then an Army wife for 20 years. Oh, and books! I love books. I don’t have enough bookcases for all my books. Many are stacked on tables, the floor, in the closet…..and when will I get around to reading them all?
