Just as Muncho habitually licked herself in places I wish she didn’t even have, so I must remember to be grateful to God for, in his wisdom, limiting the limberness of the human back.

(There, but for the grace of God , go I ?)

the statement is same here like as "Dang terriers…the energy never stops.

I now have 2 poodle mixes. The one is more poodle than cocker, and is startlingly similar to your description of Munch. She drives us nuts but we love her. Otherwise I’d pay you to take her. The other is more terrier than poodle…but doesn’t shed. So he can stay too. =)"

Yeah. 4 of them. A total of about 750 pounds of dog. They are THE BEST! I love them :-)

There may well be NO BETTER ALL-AROUND DOG than a good German Shepherd. The trick is finding a good one. If you need a referral let me know. I know a GS person or two. Awesome folks, in California as a matter of fact. Happy to put you in touch if/when the time comes.

I love Corgis. And I'm INSANE about Jack Terriers. And pugs. Pugs are the best EVER.

I love bulldogs, too. Talk about extremely funny.

Candice: You have MASTIFFS?? Man. Those are big. I love big dogs.

I think, actually, for us, so far, given what we're learning, it's all about a German shephard.

John,

Well dog my cats. You're a true wag.

As you are an Obama supporter, you should at least consider a Pembroke Welsh Corgi as your future canine companion, if only because of the prominent ears!

I TOTALLY want a pug! I never met a pug that didn’t make me want to chlorophom (sp??) its owner and dognap it.

I DID notice after I’d finished the list that they seemed to all finish in … death, or something awful.

But, you know. Sometimes that’s just the cost of FUNNY, man.

Slave to the funny. Thad be moi.

Plus, you know: It was four in the morning. I pump this stuff out; move on.

I do kinda miss that dog, though.

john, were you feeling a little cynical when you wrote this? A lot of your lessons end in death.

AWESOME post, John! I predict a future canine member of the household — it's only a matter of time :-)

I have mastiffs now. When it is time to downsize, pugs are next. I'm looking forward to the transition time, when I have a dog that weighs 180 pounds and a dog that weighs 15 pounds, but they look eerily alike. I'll call them Arnold and Danny.

Christine, if you want a Jack you'd better also have horses and a farm, or else be way into earth dog competitions. 'Cuz that's the only way you're gonna get the darn thing enough exercise to keep it sane. Forewarned is forearmed.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA laughing so hard I am actually crying!!! Ah isn’t it wonderful when God uses the foolish things to remind us aye?? I hope you don’t miss Munch too much John, sounds like a treasure.

“so I must remember to thank God that, in his wisdom, he limited the limberness of humans” – seriously this is hurting my ribs

chloroform?? Gonna have to search that one later now…..it will bug me forever otherwise, thanks John. I wanna jack russell, think they are way cuter than pugs and always look happy. When you see them on the beach you can actually SEE them thiking "throw me the ball, throw me the ball, throw me the………i'll get it, i'll get it!! I'm AMAZING!!!"

"the inner me is considerably thinner than the outer me."

I am forever going to use this line. :) This was great, John. If you ever do get a dog, I'm suggesting a pug. They are the best! And, I'm totally predjudiced!

My personal favorite:

I, too, can take a relatively minor discomfort and, through obsessive diligence, turn it into something that ultimately causes people to take me to a doctor.

Do the people have white jackets and insist I wear one too?

Sorry, sick medical humor. Amazing what animals have to teach us when we listen closely to their tireless lessons. Hope you keep running around the house so you keep fit for the next dog sitting episode. Animals are God's way of keeping us from being complete couch potatoes.

isn't death a enivitable part of life?? Not something to be feared but needs to be acknowledged

The unconditional love, the clean slate every day. The simple joy of being with them. Thanks for reminding me.

Love those analogies / metaphors…whatever! Munch is/was a season in your life….sent to remind you of God's 'immediate love'… even when you get yourself tangled up in your own leash…

Good thoughts…!
