I have a prayer/Good Vibes request, please.
One of the thrift stores run by my wife Cat (for Encinitas’ Community Resource Center) is managed by a good woman named Karen. Karen has a 51-year-old brother named Gary Michael, to whom she is very close. Gary is developmentally disabled, and blind.
This morning Gary was hospitalized for some heart trouble he was having. The doctors decided to install in him a pacemaker. That procedure went poorly; among other complications, it seems one of his surgeons “nicked” Gary’s heart. Gary is now on life support. His condition is critical.
Karen, Cat, and I are wondering if you might, please, take a moment to send up a prayer or good word on Gary’s behalf. Thank you.
Gary’s great joy in life is music. He has a particular affinity for The Beach Boys, Kenny Rogers, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. TV-wise, he loves Sesame Street, The Price Is Right, and Dragon Tales. No one who meets Gary ever fails to notice his strikingly beautiful blue eyes.
And if I could ask personally: Could you also say a prayer for Karen?
Thank you again, more than I can say. Much love to you all.

Prayers for Gary and Karen have risen before the throne of God.
May God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ surround these two precious people: Karen and Gary.
I pray that Gary miraculously recovers and that both Gary and Karen will strongly feel God's presence and arms holding them up during this time.
God bless,
K
Thank you all, very much. It's just … really touching of each of you. What blessings you are. (Wickle: thanks for the anglo-English tip. I changed the text. Thanks for noting it.)
May God be with you and your brother, Karen. May He guide the hands of the doctors and nurses working to save Gary’s life.
thank you, Mel
Just sent a word up for them, John, asking for God’s involvement for them both.
thank you, thank you, thank you.
Just now prayed a prayer for Gary. Sending love, prayers, and blessings from Kentucky.
John,
I am so sorry and will gladly hold your friend, his sister, and your wife, in my prayers. It's amazing how we can get so self-centered with our own woes, and then you find out about something like this.
God Bless.
John, I am so sorry to hear this happened to your friend . My husband is a Vascular Surgeon and it hurts
both the patient and the doctor when these things happen and they just do. Sometimes patients die during surgery
and my husband is so distraught when this happens, but God sees the big picture, I have to believe he is in Control.
I am praying for your friend tonight and you are a great friend to ask for prayers. I'm praying right now. ~Gwen
I'll be praying for him.
I have to admit, though … When I first saw the title, I was thinking of the British use of "nicked" and was trying to figure out how a doctor had stolen the guy's heart.
Sigh … Anyway, praying!
praying!
Praying for Gary, Karen and the surgeon.
My family and I are also praying for Gary and Karen. Thank you for allowing us to share this burden with you and be the Body of Christ in times like these.
Thanks Lynn—and Billy and Cynthia. Yes, I certainly will keep you updated. Thanks for asking for that.
I just prayed for Gary and Karen. I will continue to pray, please keep us updated John?
I have said a prayer for Gary and Karen.
I just said a prayer for them both. I pray that God uses the hands of those doctors (or whatever means he chooses) to fix the problem.
