Last night my wife Catherine was thinking about why important and long-term relationships sometimes fail. This morning she awoke, went straight into her office, and made the below.
Though it took some doing, she acquiesced to letting me share it with you.
Both the photo and the words are hers.
Here’s to all of us who in the past have tried and tried and tried.

First most profound emotional revelation of my life came from the content of this website.
Never disappointing.
Read it, shared it, re-read it… and then about 5 minutes after the second viewing it hit me like a ton of bricks.
“Yes. Exactly.”
This is genuinely really, really beautiful.
Beautiful. Sad, but beautiful.
That’s absolutely right on the money…I have goosebumps…my second marriage is just ending. That makes four long term relationships where I have tried to fit a whole bottle of wine into a shot glass….
This reflects my feelings perfectly…it like you’ve been following me for the past month or so…
Thank you for so beautifully speaking what is in my heart…
I’m sorry Carol for what you’re dealing with. Kudos to you for staying strong in who you are and what is important.
I hope this is about other people’s relationships, and doesn’t reflect issues in your own. But yes, it’s beautiful.
No, she was reflecting on her own past.
whew. my question (and guess at the answer) exactly.
Whew, seconded!
Wonderful. It happened to me….twice, and I WAS a mess both times. I couldn’t say it better. Catherine is one classy poet.
Then you must be a gallon jug that takes it all with room to spare.
/smiling. Simple, insightful, beautiful.
That’s stunning. Wow. This one’s definitely gonna stick with me.
I get how you both support each other’s brilliance. Thanks (as ever) for sharing it all with us.
This is great. I don’t have to read two blogs. Good art, from my perspective.
Another reason your wife rocks
*thumbs up*
